Energy Investors Funds (EIF) was founded in 1987 as the first private equity fund to focus its investment strategy on the U.S. and global electricity markets. The firm quickly grew to be a recognized leader in the power markets through its team of dedicated investment officers, engineers, lawyers, developers, marketers, and human resource professionals. Energy Investors Funds is 100% management-owned. We are managed by a Board of Directors that includes the firm’s three Managing Partners: John Buehler, Herb Magid and Terry Darby. Our Executive Committee is comprised of John, Herb, and Terry and the firm’s four Partners: Mitch Coddington, Jonathan January, Andrew Schroeder, and Mark Segel.

The goal in founding the firm was to create a unique private equity management company that would offer a team-based approach to investing in competitive electric power generation markets with a primary focus in the United States. Our experience since inception has brought Energy Investors Funds to a leadership position as a source of intelligent and innovative capital.

The firm continues to grow and develop its capacity to provide investors with a private equity vehicle for investing in the power sector. EIF serves the needs of both our institutional investor partners who seek investment opportunities in the electricity industry, and our investee company partners who look to Energy Investors Funds as a reliable, knowledgeable source of equity capital, and operating and financial expertise for their businesses.
