Mr. Derman joined EIF in 2005. He is responsible for originating, analyzing, structuring, and closing new fund investments as well as ongoing portfolio company management. From 2002 to 2005, Mr. Derman held various roles within PSEG, including Manager of Corporate Development in PSEG Power where he worked on acquisition, divestiture and development projects for the company’s 14,000 MW generation fleet. In addition, he served as Senior Enterprise Consultant in PSEG Energy Resources & Trade, where he traded energy and worked on long term supply contracts and hedges, as well as PSEG Global, where he worked on international strategy. From 1997 to 1999, he was a Senior Financial Analyst in the Acquisition and Development Group of Sunterra Corporation. From 1994 to 1996, he was an analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions Department of Smith Barney, where he worked with financial sponsors and utilities among other clients. Mr. Derman received an A.B. in Political Science from Duke University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School.
